Building and grounds
Le Sapin Bleu is a beautiful 200 year old house built on the site of a 12th century chateau. The house is full of character and still has some of the original parts of the old chateau visible including two vaulted cellars.

The gite is built on the old stone walls of the chateau and has outstanding views over the forest to the mountains.

Gardens.
The gardens around the house are a haven of peace and tranquillity where it is always possible to find a quiet corner to sit or to enjoy the views over the Monts de Forez and the surrounding countryside. One can watch the sun rise over the facing Col de Beal then in the evening walk two hundred metres up the hill from the house and watch the sunset over the Puy de Dome and the chain of ancient volcanoes
You are welcome to use our small (8x4 metres) private heated pool  which is situated in a sheltered and secluded part of the garden. For the under fives we have an inflatable paddling which we will be happy to make available

Our small holding of about two hectares (5 acres)  provides fresh fruit and vegetables in season, eggs, poultry and meat for our table d’hote (evening meals).  Vegetarian option is always available.
We are open all year round including Christmas and New Year.

Accommodation
3* Self catering accommodation (Classified by Prefecture)  
The Gite, self catering accommodation for 2 to 4 persons Adjoining the main house with an independent entrance, the  gite is built on the old stone walls of the chateau and has outstanding views over the forest to the mountains.
The accommodation consists of a large bedroom with a double bed, an ensuite bathroom with a shower over the full size bath tub, toilet and wash basin.
The living room has large windows over looking the mountains with a dinning table and chairs, 2 armchairs and a convertible settee which can sleep two people.  There is a television with a DVD player for your use along with a small library offering books in English, French and Dutch which you are free to borrow.
The kitchen is in the corner of the living room and is well equipped with a 2 ring electric cooker, a combined microwave oven and grill, toaster, coffee maker, full size fridge and washing machine.

All linen, electricity and heating are included in the tariff .  The gite has its own private terrace with wooden garden furniture, parasol and BBQ.

The gite is non smoking but an ashtray is provided for you to smoke inthe gardenshould you wish to do so.  The gite is centrally heated and is available all year round.

Gite residents are also welcome to book an evening meal should they wish.
Animals can only be accepted by prior arrangement.

Four newly created, centrally heated rooms are available throughout the year each individually decorated and with it’s own ambience..

Le Cerisier  (The cherry tree).
A very large, well appointed room with a double bed, single bed, seating area with two arm chairs and table. French doors opening onto small balcony and views over the mountains, gardens and surrounding country side. Ensuite shower room with walk in shower, WC and wash basin. Built in dressing table and wardrobe. Space for us to mount our additional single bed and or cot.

Le Noisetier (The hazel tree)
A large room with a feature fireplace, seating area ensuite bathroom with bath tub and shower over, wash basin and WC.. Views over mountains, gardens and surrounding country side. Antique wardrobe and dressing table lends an authentic and characterful atmosphere. Space for us to mount our additional single bed and or cot.

Le Frene (The ash tree)
Situated in the converted attic, this room features massive wooden beams some dating from the original 200 year old building.
Le Frene has twin beds, built in wardrobe and ensuite shower room with walk in shower, WC and wash basin. The room is light and airy thanks to the velux roof light and the  attic style windows give views over the surrounding country side. Space for us to mount our additional single bed and or cot.

Le Pommier (The apple tree)
With views over the country side and the orchard, this triangular shaped room benefits from the massive beams of the attic construction. With a tastefully dressed double bed and craftsman built wardrobe and dressing table this room has a cosy feel.  A  large  ensuite shower room with walk in shower, WC and wash basin completes the comforts you will enjoy during your stay.
Space for us to mount our cot.

The large living room, featuring a beautiful stone fireplace, with its’ wood burning stove provides a welcoming area in which to sit and relax or socialise with fellow guests.
Meals can be taken on the terrace outside, with a view of the mountains as a backdrop, on warm summer evenings or, on cooler nights around a large table in our characterful living room. A high chair is available for our younger diners. Vegetarian options are always available.
Gite residents are also welcome to book an evening meal should they wish.
Le Sapin Bleu is a non smoking building but you are welcome to smoke outside.  .
Animals are not accepted in the bed and breakfast accommodation, however outside housing may be possible but strictly by prior arrangement.
