Welcome to Le Sapin Bleu gite (holiday home) and chambre d’hote (bed and breakfast). We are open all year round.
Le Sapin Bleu is found in the middle of  the magnificent Livradois Forez natural regional park. The pauvergneark is situated in the Puy de Dome department of the Auvergne region of France.  The area is of outstanding natural beauty and offers extensive opportunities for exploring its beautiful landscape, towns and villages all year round. Every season, with its changing colours provides evermore possibilities.
There is something for everyone, walkers of all abilities are spoilt for choice with hundreds of miles of footpaths to explore, artists and photographers will not know where to begin!  There are plenty of tracks for mountain bikes, 4x4 vehicles, fishing, boating, swimming in rivers and lakes, climbing, hang-gliding, horse riding, castles, markets, festivals, skiing, pretty towns and villages and of course eatauvergneing regional specialities either in local restaurants or with us for an evening meal, ( a vegetarian option can be provided by reservation.).
The area is also popular with touring motorbikes and we can offer secure garaging for 4 or 5 motorbikes and marketbicycles.
English language courses and other themed breaks available in the spring and Autumn.
Languages spoken English and French. Exclusive use for friends and family, available.

About us

We are a British couple, with 3 grown up children who have decidboated to move to France to start a new chapter in our lives and a new adventure.
Martyn spent many years at sea in the merchant navy as a Chief Officer, travelling all over the world before joining the Coastguard and moving all over the British Isles from Devon and Wales to the Orkney Islands in the north of Scotland where we spent 11 very happy years. The last 6 years in Orkney Martyn worked for the Orkney Port Authority.
Anne worked in hotels for a number of years before raising the children, during which time she made cakes and deserts from home for people. Latterly Anne worked as a Training Manager in the NHS. Both Martyn and Anne are qualified  as TEFL teachers(Teaching English as a Foreign Language)

Both of us have always enjoyed travelling and meeting people, entertaining friends and growing our own produce. Other interests include, fishing, walking and water colour painting. Although our children have remained in the UKmotorbike we are joined at Le Sapin Bleu by our our dog Jed. Anne speaks good French and Martyn’s command of the language has improved enormously.
